About Scale Chapter
Scale Chapter is an advertising technology and performance marketing company founded within the University of Oxford’s Innovation Centre.
We combine software, data, and performance marketing to help companies make better advertising decisions at scale. A big part of that is technology we build ourselves, from data pipelines and integrations to reporting systems, automation, and our advertising optimization engine.
We’re now looking for a Software Developer to join the team and help us build and improve those systems.
What you'll be working on
This isn’t a role where you’ll spend your time making small changes to marketing websites.
You’ll work on the technology behind how we collect, process, analyse, and act on advertising data.
Depending on the project, that could mean:
- Building and improving backend services, internal tools, and APIs
- Developing data pipelines that bring together information from advertising platforms, CRMs, product feeds, and other sources
- Working on systems that analyse large amounts of advertising and performance data
- Building automation that replaces repetitive manual workflows
- Developing reporting and analytics tools used by our team and clients
- Improving the infrastructure behind our advertising optimization technology
- Integrating third-party platforms and APIs
- Debugging, testing, and improving existing systems
- Taking features from an initial idea through to something running reliably in production
Reasons to use Rodeo
I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

See breakdownIt searches the market for you
Every day your agent scans the market matching roles against what actually matters to you, not just keywords on a CV.
Why you're a good match
You’ve got the grades and the economics background, and your bank internship is exactly the experience this scheme looks for. Apply soon — deadlines close within the month.
Experience fit
Your summer at the bank plus your econometrics coursework map directly to the day-one responsibilities on this scheme — client modelling, market briefings, and deal support.
Only hits
No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.
You’ll work closely with people across engineering, data, and performance marketing, so you’ll get to see how the software you build is actually used and what impact it has.
What we're looking for
We care more about whether you can build good software and solve problems than whether your CV matches a very specific template.
You should be comfortable with:
- Building real software beyond tutorials or coursework
- Backend development and application logic
- Working with APIs and third-party integrations
- Databases and SQL
- Git and collaborative software development
- Debugging problems and working through unfamiliar code
- Breaking down ambiguous problems and figuring out sensible solutions
- Writing code that other people can understand and maintain
You should also be comfortable working in English.
Nice to have
Experience in any of these areas would be useful, but isn't required:
- Data engineering or data pipelines
- Cloud infrastructure
- Advertising or marketing APIs
- Analytics or reporting systems
- Automation
- Machine learning or AI-enabled applications
- Working with large datasets
- Early-stage products or startups

Your very own career expert that helps elevate your application to the next level.
You do not need previous advertising experience. We can teach you the advertising side. What matters more is that you're technically strong, curious, and interested in understanding the problem behind what you're building.
What the role is like
We're still building a lot of the technology and infrastructure behind Scale Chapter, so this role comes with meaningful ownership.
You won't only receive finished specifications and implement tickets. You'll often be involved in figuring out how something should work, deciding how to build it, and improving it once people start using it.
That also means we value people who ask questions, challenge assumptions, and are comfortable taking responsibility for their work.
Why Scale Chapter
You'll be joining at a stage where an individual developer can have a noticeable impact on both the technology and the way we build it.
You'll work on software connected to real commercial problems, real advertising data, and systems that are used to make decisions every day.
If that sounds interesting, we'd like to hear from you.
To apply, send us your CV and, if available, links to your GitHub, portfolio, or anything you've built that you'd like us to see.
