About The Role
We are seeking a highly skilled Staff Software Engineer specializing in AI to join our innovative team. In this role, you will be at the forefront of developing and deploying scalable AI platforms and intelligent applications that incorporate emerging AI capabilities into production environments. You will act as a hands-on technical leader, responsible for designing, coding, reviewing, and improving complex backend systems supporting AI-powered products and services. Your expertise will drive the development of large language model applications, retrieval-augmented generation, and other advanced AI solutions that align with Moody’s strategic goals. This position offers the opportunity to influence technical direction, mentor engineering talent, and collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to deliver impactful AI-driven solutions.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Artificial Intelligence, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience
- 8+ years of experience in software engineering with a focus on scalable, resilient backend systems and cloud-native services
- Expert-level proficiency in modern programming languages such as Python, TypeScript, Go, or similar
- Deep expertise in building enterprise AI applications utilizing large language models, AI agents, retrieval-augmented generation, and prompt engineering
- Proven ability to take AI solutions from prototype to production, balancing performance, scalability, security, and cost considerations
- Extensive experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Google Cloud, or Azure, including containerization and orchestration technologies like Docker and Kubernetes
- Strong background in designing APIs, distributed systems, event-driven architectures, and data pipelines
- Demonstrated leadership in influencing technical strategies, mentoring engineers, and ensuring engineering best practices
- Commitment to responsible AI practices, including ethical use, governance, evaluation, and continuous improvement of AI products

Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and lead the delivery of scalable AI platforms and intelligent applications for production environments
- Act as a technical leader by designing, coding, reviewing, debugging, and optimizing backend systems supporting AI workloads
- Create scalable backend services, APIs, data pipelines, inference pipelines, and platform capabilities for real-time and batch AI processing
- Implement advanced large language model applications involving retrieval-augmented generation, prompt orchestration, and model optimization
- Make critical technical decisions ensuring code quality, system performance, security, reliability, and cost-efficiency
- Establish and promote engineering best practices through code reviews, automated testing, observability, and operational excellence
- Lead machine learning operations initiatives, including model lifecycle management, deployment pipelines, and continuous monitoring
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to translate strategic objectives into practical, scalable technical solutions
- Develop reusable frameworks, libraries, and developer tools to streamline AI development across teams
- Evaluate emerging AI technologies through prototypes and proof-of-concept builds, guiding teams on best implementation practices
- Mentor and coach engineering staff, fostering a culture of innovation, quality, and continuous learning
