About The Role
We have an exciting opportunity for a Lead Software Engineer within the AI and Machine Learning Data Platforms team at JPMorgan Chase. As a key member of an agile development environment, you will play a vital role in designing, developing, and deploying innovative technology solutions that support the firm’s strategic objectives. Your expertise will contribute to building secure, scalable, and reliable market-leading products that leverage artificial intelligence and machine learning capabilities. You will serve as a technical leader, guiding a team of engineers and collaborating with product managers and stakeholders to deliver high-quality solutions. Your role involves evaluating emerging technologies, mentoring junior engineers, and driving the adoption of enterprise-approved AI-assisted engineering practices to enhance operational efficiency and code quality.

Qualifications
- Formal training or certification in software engineering concepts and advanced applied experience
- Hands-on experience with system design, application development, testing, and operational stability
- Proven expertise in cloud-based engineering environments
- Advanced proficiency in Python; familiarity with additional programming languages is a plus
- Experience leading the use of AI-assisted software development tools (e.g., code review, test acceleration, troubleshooting)
- Strong understanding of responsible AI use, data sensitivity, and secure handling of inputs/outputs
- Proficiency across all phases of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC)
- Knowledge of databases and data structures
- Advanced understanding of agile methodologies such as CI/CD, application resiliency, and security
- Deep knowledge of the financial services industry and its IT systems
- Practical experience with cloud-native development and deployment
Responsibilities
- Design and implement innovative software solutions, including technical troubleshooting and problem-solving beyond routine approaches
- Develop secure, high-quality production code, and perform code reviews and debugging activities
- Lead evaluation sessions with external vendors, startups, and internal teams to assess architectural designs and technical credentials
- Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior engineers across data projects and engineering initiatives
- Drive team adoption of enterprise-approved AI-assisted engineering practices to improve code quality, delivery speed, and operational outcomes
- Establish and promote validation standards such as secure coding, peer reviews, and automated testing across the team
- Leverage SDLC tools and automation capabilities to enhance development efficiency and value
- Identify opportunities to automate recurring issues and improve the operational stability of software applications and systems
- Ensure responsible AI practices, including data security, compliance, and adherence to resiliency standards
