Software Engineer

Location: Glasgow, UK
Type: Contract Inside IR35
Rate: 385 - 450 GBP/Day

About the Role

We are looking for a Senior Technical Lead / Senior Software Engineer with strong hands-on experience in C++ and Python to join our engineering team in Glasgow.

The role involves developing and supporting high-performance software in Linux/Unix environments, working with databases and modern container technologies such as Kubernetes, Docker, and Podman.

What You'll Do

  • Lead and contribute to the development of software using C++ and Python.
  • Design, develop and maintain high-quality backend and systems applications.
  • Work extensively in Linux/Unix environments.
  • Design and work with PostgreSQL and relational databases.
  • Perform data modelling and database design.
  • Develop and maintain containerised applications using Docker, Kubernetes, and Podman.
  • Develop software and services using Go/Golang.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues.
  • Collaborate with other engineering and technical teams to deliver robust solutions.
  • Contribute to technical design, development standards, and engineering best practices.
  • Support continuous improvement of software architecture and development processes.

Essential Skills

  • Strong hands-on programming experience with C++.
  • Strong programming experience with Python.
  • Experience working in Linux/Unix environments.
  • Strong experience with PostgreSQL or relational databases.
  • Understanding of data modelling and database design.
  • Hands-on experience with Kubernetes.
  • Experience with Docker and/or Podman.
  • Experience developing with Go/Golang.
  • Strong problem-solving and debugging skills.
  • Good communication and technical leadership abilities.
