Software Engineer
Location: Glasgow, UK
Type: Contract Inside IR35
Rate: 385 - 450 GBP/Day
About the Role
We are looking for a Senior Technical Lead / Senior Software Engineer with strong hands-on experience in C++ and Python to join our engineering team in Glasgow.
The role involves developing and supporting high-performance software in Linux/Unix environments, working with databases and modern container technologies such as Kubernetes, Docker, and Podman.
What You'll Do
- Lead and contribute to the development of software using C++ and Python.
- Design, develop and maintain high-quality backend and systems applications.
- Work extensively in Linux/Unix environments.
- Design and work with PostgreSQL and relational databases.
- Perform data modelling and database design.
- Develop and maintain containerised applications using Docker, Kubernetes, and Podman.
- Develop software and services using Go/Golang.
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues.
- Collaborate with other engineering and technical teams to deliver robust solutions.
- Contribute to technical design, development standards, and engineering best practices.
- Support continuous improvement of software architecture and development processes.

Essential Skills
- Strong hands-on programming experience with C++.
- Strong programming experience with Python.
- Experience working in Linux/Unix environments.
- Strong experience with PostgreSQL or relational databases.
- Understanding of data modelling and database design.
- Hands-on experience with Kubernetes.
- Experience with Docker and/or Podman.
- Experience developing with Go/Golang.
- Strong problem-solving and debugging skills.
- Good communication and technical leadership abilities.

Ideal Candidate
We're looking for someone who combines strong software engineering fundamentals with experience in modern containerised environments.
