About The Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Software Engineer to join our dynamic team at BAE Systems Digital Intelligence. This role offers an exciting opportunity to work on cutting-edge technology projects that directly contribute to the security and safety of the UK. As a Software Engineer, you will collaborate with national security clients to develop systems that support their core mission capabilities. You will be part of empowered, autonomous DevOps teams, engaging with end-users regularly to understand requirements, design solutions, and deliver high-quality applications and services. The position provides a flexible hybrid working environment, with options for full or part-time engagement, based on individual preferences and organizational needs. Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in software development and a passion for innovative problem-solving. Essential qualifications include experience in programming languages such as JavaScript, Java, .Net, or Python. Candidates should have a proven track record of designing and building proof-of-concept or production systems, with familiarity in source control tools like Git, Mercurial, or Perforce. Experience with CI/CD pipelines using tools such as Jenkins, Bamboo, or Bitbucket is highly desirable, along with automated testing frameworks and static code analysis tools like SonarQube. A solid understanding of agile methodologies such as Scrum, Lean, or Kanban, and familiarity with common software design patterns, are also important. Additional experience in machine learning, cloud deployment (AWS, Azure), containerization (Docker, Kubernetes), and database management will be advantageous, though not mandatory. Candidates must hold or be eligible to obtain an active security clearance, specifically an active eDV, due to the sensitive nature of the work involved.

Responsibilities

  • Developing, testing, and maintaining software solutions that meet client requirements and security standards.
  • Working closely with cross-functional teams to design scalable and reliable systems.
  • Ensuring code quality through automated testing and static analysis.
  • Participating in the full software development lifecycle, from initial concept through deployment and ongoing support.
  • Contributing to continuous improvement initiatives by identifying new technologies and approaches that enhance system performance and security.
  • Collaborating with end-users and stakeholders to gather feedback and refine solutions.
  • Sharing expertise, mentoring junior team members, and actively participating in agile ceremonies to promote a collaborative and efficient working environment.
