ORdigiNAL

ORdigiNAL builds a connector platform that brings ambient clinical AI into the electronic health record (EHR). A clinician launches it from the patient chart, holds a natural consultation, and a structured, coded clinical note is filed back into the record, reviewed by the clinician before anything is written, and licence-checked at every step through our central management console. We have a working end-to-end integration with a leading ambient clinical AI platform, and we are now scaling the connector family across EHR platforms worldwide.

The role

You will be our first dedicated engineering hire. Your first mission is our EHR connector family: the architecture is proven, and your job is to multiply it across vendors, regions and integration technologies. Over time the role grows with the product - the management console, the processing pipeline, whatever we ship next. Architecture and product direction are led by the founding team; you build, and you build fast. This is a hands-on role with unusual scope for one person, made possible by the way we work (see below).

What you'll do

  • Build and ship connectors for new EHR platforms across integration types: SMART on FHIR and FHIR R4 REST, HL7 v2.x messaging, CDA/CCD document exchange, and proprietary vendor APIs.
  • Extend our multi-EHR writer abstraction so that each new EMR is a thin adapter plus configuration, not a rewrite.
  • Own integration quality end to end: encounter binding, idempotent writes, webhook reliability, error recovery, and graceful behaviour when the EHR misbehaves.
  • Build against our licensing and entitlement plane, where every operation is checked at runtime.
  • Take connectors through vendor sandboxes, partner-API reviews and certification programmes.
  • Document each integration pattern so the next EMR ships faster than the last.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

How we work: AI-native engineering

This team ships at a multiple of typical output because agentic AI does much of the mechanical work: code, pipelines, tests, documentation, even demo production. We are not looking for someone who tolerates AI tooling; we are looking for someone who runs it. You will direct AI agents daily, and your value is judgment: specifying precisely, reviewing critically, testing what comes back, and knowing when the output is wrong. If you see this as the future of engineering, you will thrive here. If you want to hand-write every line, this is not the role for you.

What we're looking for

  • 1-2+ years building real applications and working with APIs (Node.js/TypeScript preferred, but strong fundamentals in any stack count).
  • Demonstrated AI-assisted development practice: you can show us something real you built by directing AI tooling, and explain how you verified it.
  • Fluent in English
  • Strong on OAuth2/OIDC, REST API design, and webhook / event-driven patterns.
  • Rigour with health data: privacy-by-design instincts and GDPR awareness.
  • Self-directed, comfortable owning a feature or connector end to end in a small, senior team.

Nice to have

  • Exposure to healthcare integration standards - FHIR, HL7 v2, CDA or SMART on FHIR. We don't expect this on day one; the standards are learnable and we'll teach you.
  • Interface-engine background (Mirth, Rhapsody).
  • Azure: App Service, Entra ID, Event Grid, Key Vault.
  • Exposure to EHR vendor certification programmes (Epic, Oracle Health, MEDITECH or similar).
  • A second European language.

What we offer

  • A ground-floor engineering role on a product entering one of the fastest-growing categories in health tech.
  • Direct work against major-platform partner APIs, with your fingerprints on every connector we ship.
  • Remote within Europe, flexible hours with core overlap on CET, with quarterly in-person team days at our office in the Netherlands (travel covered).
  • €38,000–€55,000 gross, depending on experience and location. Employment via local entity or employer-of-record depending on country.
  • Initial 12-month engagement with the clear intention to extend and convert to permanent as the product scales.
  • A way of working most engineering teams will not reach for years.

How to apply

Send your CV or LinkedIn profile together with a short note (half a page is plenty) describing a system you built with substantial AI assistance: what you delegated, what you kept for yourself, and how you verified the result. That note matters more to us than the CV.
