Job Description
As a Backend Software Engineer at Adaptyv Bio, you will architect the infrastructure connecting AI models to physical lab robotics. You’ll build scalable data pipelines for protein characterization, design APIs for instrument orchestration, and bridge the gap between software and hardware to enable high-throughput, agentic science at the cutting edge of biotech innovation.

What You Will Do
- Architect and maintain robust backend systems using Python and TypeScript to orchestrate complex laboratory workflows and high-precision device automation.
- Build high-performance data pipelines that ingest and structure heterogeneous measurements from physical instruments, such as binding kinetics and chromatography, into clean datasets.
- Collaborate with scientists and automation engineers to translate intricate molecular biology processes into reliable, scalable software services and programmable hardware integrations.
The ideal candidate
- Proven experience designing and building production-grade backend systems with a deep understanding of database architecture, specifically with Python, TypeScript, and Postgres.
- Strong background in data engineering and systems integration, with a track record of handling complex, real-world data flows from hardware or physical sensors.
- Highly autonomous engineer who embraces AI-augmented development tools while maintaining a rigorous standard for code quality, maintainability, and clean architecture.
