About Dex

Dex is an AI recruiter agent that helps you run your job search. Tell Dex your stack, seniority, and what you want to build. We will manage your applications and surface other opportunities that are a fit.

The Role

This company builds AI software that turns unstructured sensor data into real-time defence intelligence. They operate at the cutting edge of semi-autonomous platforms, localising, navigating, and perceiving the world in dynamic, high-stakes environments. Backed by significant funding from leading investors, they're solving some of the hardest technical problems in the field.

This isn't a typical backend role. You'll build the foundational infrastructure for systems operating under extreme constraints: intermittent connectivity, resource-constrained embedded compute, low-bandwidth radios, and untrusted networks. Reliability isn't a quality metric here; it's the core product. This means an engineering culture built around robustness, rigorous review, and direct impact in high-risk situations.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

  • Engineer for extreme environments: intermittent connectivity, resource constraints, and untrusted networks.
  • Drive robustness through rigorous testing, benchmarking, and deep failure mode analysis.
  • Contribute to an engineering culture that prioritises RFCs, code review, and shared ownership.

What You Bring

  • Backend development experience in a systems language (Rust, Java, Go, C++, or similar).
  • Deep expertise in one area: edge computing, latency, or platform engineering.
  • Experience building and operating large-scale, complex distributed systems, with a focus on partial degradation.
