About The Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Controls Software Engineer to join our dynamic team in Derby/Solihull on a hybrid full-time basis. In this role, you will be responsible for the end-to-end development of control software components, ensuring they meet stringent safety and quality standards such as DO-178. Your expertise will contribute to the design, verification, and integration of embedded software solutions for aerospace applications. You will work closely with cross-functional teams in an agile environment, translating system requirements into reliable and efficient software components. Your role will involve evaluating verification results, supporting defect investigations, and maintaining configuration management practices. Qualifications

  • Practical experience in Ada software design and development
  • Knowledge of system and hardware architecture, embedded software development, and module-level testing
  • Experience with model-based development or C programming languages
  • Understanding of engineering lifecycle processes (V Lifecycle), constraints, and related disciplines
  • Proficiency with design, modeling, simulation, and analysis tools
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret technical data and test results
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment
  • Proactive approach to learning and professional development

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain control software components throughout their lifecycle, from requirements to verification
  • Ensure software solutions adhere to safety and quality standards such as DO-178
  • Evaluate verification and test results, providing technical conclusions and supporting defect resolution
  • Follow configuration management and change control procedures
  • Collaborate with cross-disciplinary teams to understand system requirements and facilitate effective component integration
  • Create comprehensive technical documentation and reports to record design decisions and verification outcomes
  • Contribute to departmental initiatives such as process improvements, knowledge sharing, and training activities
  • Support continuous improvement efforts and stay updated with emerging technologies and best practices
