Job Description

JOB TITLE: Software Engineer – Cyber Security Assured Design
SALARY: £63,152-£78,940
LOCATION(S): Manchester, Leeds, Bristol, Edinburgh
HOURS: Full-time
WORKING PATTERN: Our work style is hybrid, which involves spending at least two days per week, or 40% of our time, at one of our office sites

About this opportunity
At Lloyds Banking Group, we’re building the bank of the future—secure, resilient, and designed for scale. Security must be embedded from the outset, not applied retrospectively.

Cyber Security Assured Design sits at the heart of this ambition. We enable secure-by-design principles across platforms and applications, ensuring that modern architectures—particularly cloud-native and microservices-based solutions—are built to meet both security and business outcomes from day one.

Working closely with engineering, architecture, and platform teams, you’ll help shape secure design patterns, standards, and reusable components across our GCP ecosystem. This is an opportunity to influence at scale, embedding security into the development lifecycle and accelerating delivery through automation and simplification.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Designing, developing, and evolving secure design patterns for cloud-native and microservices architectures
  • Building and maintaining reusable security components, frameworks, and reference implementations
  • Developing Python-based services, tooling, or automation to enable secure-by-design adoption
  • Supporting engineering teams in embedding security controls within CI/CD pipelines
  • Working with GCP services to design scalable, resilient, and secure architectures
  • Translating security requirements into practical, developer-friendly implementations
  • Contributing to and maintaining secure design documentation, standards, and guidance
  • Collaborating with architects and product teams to ensure security is embedded early in design decisions
  • Continuously improving developer experience and self-service security capabilities

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
