About The Role
We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled Principal Software Engineer specializing in Data Technology Platforms to join our dynamic team in London. This pivotal role involves leading the design, development, and operation of enterprise-wide data platforms that support a wide range of operational, analytical, regulatory, and AI-driven business functions. The successful candidate will play a strategic role in defining and executing data strategies that enable scalable, high-performance, and secure data solutions across the organization. This position offers an excellent opportunity for a technology leader to influence data architecture, mentor engineering teams, and collaborate with stakeholders at all levels to foster a data-driven culture.
The role is initially set to commence as soon as possible, with a contractual period until December 2026, with potential extensions based on project needs and performance.

Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- Extensive experience in data engineering, database development, and cloud data platforms.
- Proficiency in SQL development and optimization techniques.
- Hands-on experience with Snowflake, DBT, Azure Data Factory, and Python.
- Strong understanding of data modeling, data warehousing, and ETL/ELT processes.
- Experience with cloud-native solutions, preferably on Microsoft Azure.
- Knowledge of DevOps practices, including Azure DevOps, Git, CI/CD pipelines, and automated deployment.
- Proven ability to lead technical initiatives, mentor teams, and manage stakeholder relationships.
- Experience supporting large-scale data workloads and ensuring data quality, security, and governance.
- Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.
Responsibilities
- Drive the architecture, design, and evolution of modern, cloud-based data platforms aligned with enterprise needs.
- Translate complex business requirements into scalable, reusable, and strategic data solutions.
- Provide technical leadership and guidance across data engineering initiatives and platform modernization projects.
- Champion best practices in data architecture, governance, security, and scalability to ensure robust and compliant data solutions.
- Analyze technical and business requirements, evaluate solution viability, and develop enterprise-grade data pipelines and integrations.
- Support the full software development lifecycle, including testing, deployment, and ongoing maintenance of data solutions.
- Optimize performance for large-scale data processing and analytics workloads to ensure efficiency and reliability.
- Collaborate closely with business stakeholders, product owners, data analysts, and engineering teams to align data initiatives with organizational goals.
- Act as a trusted advisor on data strategy, platform capabilities, and emerging technologies.
- Mentor and develop engineering team members, fostering a culture of continuous learning and improvement.
- Promote agile practices, operational excellence, and knowledge sharing within the team.
