About The Role
We are seeking a talented Full-Stack AI Software Developer to join our Data & AI capability team. In this role, you will be instrumental in designing, building, and operating full-stack, AI-enabled software solutions with a strong focus on frontend development. Your primary responsibility will be to create user-facing products and interfaces that make McLaren's data and AI accessible and usable. This includes developing chat experiences, engineering assistants, dashboards, and internal digital products supported by robust AI platforms. Working within a product-oriented delivery model, you will be embedded in or allocated to a business-aligned product team, such as Product Development, Manufacturing, or Commercial, leveraging shared capabilities from the unified platform team. You will operate at the intersection of frontend development and AI integration, deploying solutions on cloud infrastructure and ensuring seamless user experiences with advanced AI functionalities like streaming responses, retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), and autonomous agents.
Qualifications
- Proficiency in Python (FastAPI), Node.js, and REST API development
- Strong experience with SQL and PostgreSQL databases
- Knowledge of Redis or Valkey for session management and WebSocket coordination at scale
- Expertise in JavaScript/TypeScript, HTML5, and CSS for frontend development
- Hands-on experience with React or equivalent frameworks, including component architecture and state management
- Understanding of responsive design principles and web performance optimization (Core Web Vitals: LCP, INP, CLS)
- Familiarity with Git-based workflows and CI/CD pipelines
- Experience with PHP, MS SQL Server, Matlab for transitional support and migration (preferred but not mandatory)
- Knowledge of Rust for performance-critical components
- Experience with fine-tuning models (LoRA/PEFT) and multimodal models
- Familiarity with AWS GenAI-on-EKS architecture, including LiteLLM, vector databases, and Langfuse via Terraform/Helm
- Data visualization skills and proficiency with design tools such as Figma

Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain responsive, high-performance web applications and AI-enabled interfaces, including chat UIs, dashboards, and interactive tools
- Create AI-enabled user experiences that are transparent and trustworthy, incorporating features such as token streaming, source citations, confidence indicators, human-in-the-loop review, safety warnings, and fallback states
- Integrate frontend interfaces with McLaren's AI platforms, managing streaming, token limits, rate limits, and retries
- Build and support backend services and APIs that facilitate AI-powered features and connect to data products and source systems
- Manage the entire lifecycle of data and AI products, from proof of concept (POC) and proof of integration (POI) to minimum viable product (MVP) and production, ensuring seamless integration with source systems and downstream consumers
- Own and maintain infrastructure, including infrastructure-as-code, CI/CD pipelines, containerization, and deployment processes
- Contribute to AI evaluation and quality assurance through automated testing, observability, and monitoring tools to track latency, token usage, and failure modes
- Implement governance and security practices as code, including access controls, data lineage, quality checks, authentication, least privilege principles, and encryption
- Promote the use of McLaren-controlled infrastructure and data residency standards, encouraging adoption of AI tools across teams
- Plan and execute work within agile sprints, balancing exploratory R&D with production-grade delivery, providing accurate estimates, and flagging scope risks early
