Senior Software Engineer - Platform Engineering & Developer Acceleration

Our client is an exceptional hedge fund renowned for combining world-class technology with a high-performance, entrepreneurial culture. With continued growth across international markets, they are investing heavily in the platforms and tools that empower their software engineers, researchers, and investment teams to innovate at scale. As part of this evolution, they are seeking a Senior Software Engineer to help shape the future of their internal developer platform, drive developer acceleration initiatives, and build the technologies that enable software engineers across the firm to deliver faster, more efficiently, and at greater scale.

They are looking for a highly driven Software Engineer who thrives on solving complex technical challenges and building platforms that have broad impact. The ideal candidate combines deep software engineering expertise with a strong sense of ownership, enjoys working across infrastructure and application layers, and is passionate about creating tools that enhance the productivity and effectiveness of fellow software engineers. A proactive, collaborative mindset and genuine enthusiasm for automation, developer experience, AI-enabled development workflows, and modern engineering practices will be key to success in this role.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and build developer acceleration solutions that enable engineers to move from idea to production faster.
  • Develop AI-powered tooling and agent-based workflows that streamline software development, testing, deployment, and operations.
  • Architect, build, and maintain scalable platform services used across engineering, research, and investment teams.
  • Create and enhance platform capabilities that improve developer experience, reliability, and operational efficiency.
  • Build and maintain distributed REST and gRPC services supporting business-critical applications and workflows.
  • Drive automation across deployment pipelines, infrastructure provisioning, and operational processes.
  • Champion DevOps and Site Reliability Engineering best practices across cloud and on-premise environments.
  • Contribute to engineering standards, frameworks, and reusable platform components used across the wider technology organisation.
  • Improve observability, resilience, and reliability across the platform ecosystem.
  • Participate in production support and incident response, helping maintain highly available systems.

Key Skills & Experience

  • 10+ years of hands-on software engineering experience delivering large-scale, production-ready systems.
  • Strong commercial development experience with Go and Python.
  • Experience building and integrating AI agents, agentic workflows, and related SDKs.
  • Proven track record designing and delivering distributed, high-throughput systems.
  • Strong understanding of software architecture, system design, and platform engineering principles.
  • Hands-on experience with Kubernetes, containers, and cloud-native technologies.
  • Experience building REST and gRPC services in production environments.
  • Strong background in Infrastructure as Code, ideally using Terraform.
  • Experience designing and maintaining CI/CD pipelines and developer platform tooling.
  • Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills with a pragmatic, solutions-focused approach.
  • Strong communication and documentation skills, with the ability to clearly articulate technical concepts and architectural decisions.
  • Collaborative mindset with a strong sense of ownership and a passion for improving engineering productivity at scale.
