I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Only hits
No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, build and maintain the Unity, Unreal and other SDKs for our platforms: plug-ins and packages that expose platform services to developers through clean, stable and well-versioned APIs
- Package and validate code packages for target mobile devices including iPhone and Android; own build configuration, platform-specific behaviour and compatibility across supported OS versions and hardware
- Build developer-facing tools inside the editors that make the platform easier to adopt, integrate and debug; treat developer experience as a first-class deliverable
- Write and maintain clear SDK documentation, integration guides and code samples; keep them accurate and in step with each release
- Design and maintain CI/CD pipelines for the SDK: automated builds, packaging, versioning and release across supported platforms
- Own testing for the SDK: unit, integration and on-device testing; build the harnesses and fixtures that let the team ship changes with confidence
- Use AI coding tools effectively in day-to-day development and help establish sensible team practices for reviewing, validating and trusting AI-assisted output
- Support the platform's safety, brand integrity and IP obligations at the SDK layer: sensible defaults, safe API surfaces and controls that hold as the SDK is adopted more widely
Required Qualifications
- Degree in computer science or a related discipline, or demonstrated equivalent capability through professional practice
- Experience working across different engineering team disciplines in a highly collaborative environment
- Solid hands-on software engineering experience across the full development cycle, with the range to work as a generalist rather than in a single narrow specialism
- Practical experience developing with the Unity engine, including plug-in or package development and working within the editor
- Experience building and shipping software for mobile devices, including packaging and platform-specific concerns for iOS and Android
- Demonstrated experience using AI tooling for code in real development work, with sound judgement about where it helps, where it does not and how to verify its output
- Hands-on experience with CI/CD: designing or maintaining automated build, test and release pipelines
- A strong testing practice: writing unit and integration tests and validating behaviour on target devices
- Ability to write clear technical documentation for other developers
- Comfort with ambiguity: able to take a loosely defined problem, work out what it needs and deliver a working result
- Clear, structured communication; able to work closely with backend and infrastructure engineers and explain SDK trade-offs plainly
