Job Title

I'm working with an iconic British hi-fi manufacturer, behind award-winning audio products for over 50 years, who are growing their DSP team ahead of a new project.

This is a hands-on role. You'll write the real-time embedded firmware that runs on the SHARC DSP at the heart of their streaming audio products, and you'll be on the bench with the electronics team bringing up new prototypes. If you enjoy taking an idea from MATLAB to C code to a board that actually plays music, this one is for you.

What you'll be doing

  • Developing real-time embedded software for new products, much of it DSP
  • Building new processing chain components in MATLAB, then implementing them in C on the DSP
  • Writing drivers for peripherals on the DSP chip and the PCB (DAC/ADC, volume control)
  • Bringing up DSP and digital audio circuitry on prototype boards using scopes, logic analysers and audio test kit
  • Working with the acoustics team on new ideas to improve performance and sound quality
  • Agreeing interfaces with the other firmware engineers, plus peer code review and clear documentation

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Only hits

No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.

What they're looking for

  • A practical DSP engineer who builds things, rather than purely the theory side
  • Strong C and real-time embedded experience on real hardware (SHARC is a bonus)
  • An electronics engineering background or similar, with a solid maths base
  • Audio DSP experience such as filter design, sample rate conversion, FFT and dynamic range control
  • A real love of audio and music. If you haven't worked in audio before that's ok, as long as you bring plenty of hands-on embedded DSP experience
  • Someone who can explain complex technical ideas clearly in a room full of engineers. This really matters to the team
  • Familiarity with Git, Jira and Agile
