Software Engineer (full stack)

Role: full-time, permanent.
Office: London, Hybrid working.

At CPC Systems, our vision is to be “the best at delivering safe, high-performing infrastructure”. Our people are dedicated to meeting our clients’ needs, unified by a core set of values and behaviours that bring the right knowledge, experience and a fresh approach to unlocking every project’s full potential.

We build software to be used in control rooms to assist the operational running of some of the largest rail operating companies in the UK and overseas.

We are currently looking to recruit a full stack Software Engineer to join our team in London. We are looking for someone who combines technical expertise with a strong sense of user experience. Someone who can work with operational rail experts to understand their needs, and translate that into working software.

There’s a wide variety of software engineering problems that our team tackles from train telemetry, real time data, platform engineering, and analytics. This role would suit a generalist software developer who has experience covering some of the following frontend, backend, low-level comms, Linux, or cloud. It’s applied problem solving, we’re working in control rooms with expert users, helping them to keep transport running on-time.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
