Software Engineer III / Senior Software Engineer, 3 Positions
Location: London, hybrid working (4 days per week onsite)
Duration: 12-month initial contract
Rate: £632.91 per day PAYE or up to £750 per day Umbrella (Inside IR35)
We are recruiting experienced Software Engineer III / Senior Software Engineers for a long-term contract opportunity with a leading global financial services organisation in London.
This is a hands-on full stack engineering role focused on designing, developing, testing and supporting enterprise applications. You will work across the full software development lifecycle and collaborate closely with engineers, business users, project managers and data teams to deliver secure, scalable and high-quality technology solutions. The role offers the opportunity to contribute to both front-end and back-end development while helping drive engineering best practices across the team.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop and maintain complex enterprise applications
- Execute the full software development lifecycle from requirements through to deployment and production support
- Gather requirements and contribute to BRD and SRD documentation
- Develop well-designed, testable and efficient code
- Build and maintain automated testing and quality assurance solutions
- Participate actively in code reviews and promote engineering best practices
- Troubleshoot, debug and upgrade existing applications and platforms
- Support production environments and resolve technical issues
- Integrate software components into fully functional software systems
- Develop technical documentation, flowcharts and solution designs
- Apply security, privacy and change management principles throughout the development lifecycle
- Contribute to the reduction of technical debt and continuous improvement initiatives
- Mentor junior engineers and support knowledge sharing across the team
- Collaborate with engineers, business stakeholders, project managers and data teams to deliver elegant technical solutions
- Support deployment activities and ongoing maintenance of existing systems and platforms

Essential Experience
- Strong commercial software development experience
- Proven experience across both front-end and back-end development
- Experience with technologies such as C#, Java, JavaScript, Angular and Node.js
- Strong knowledge of HTML, CSS and JSON
- Experience working with application development frameworks
- Experience with containerisation technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes
- Experience throughout the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC)
- Knowledge of test automation, software testing and quality assurance practices
- Experience participating in code reviews and technical design discussions
- Strong problem-solving and stakeholder management skills
- Experience supporting and maintaining production applications
- Ability to mentor junior developers and contribute to team development
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related discipline, or equivalent commercial experience

Desirable Experience
- Experience within financial services, securities or capital markets environments
- Knowledge of cross-platform interoperability and enterprise application architecture
- Experience working within highly regulated environments
- Exposure to cloud-native and modern engineering practices
- Previous experience operating at Senior Software Engineer or Software Engineer III level
- Experience supporting mission-critical enterprise platforms
This opportunity would suit a Senior Software Engineer, Senior Full Stack Developer, Full Stack Engineer or Software Engineer III who enjoys taking ownership of work from requirements through to production support while remaining hands-on with development.
