The Role
This role is an opportunity to join a fast-growing UK-based organisation that believes in using the latest cutting-edge technology. As a Software Engineer in Test at Xiatech, you will be involved in helping us automate all aspects of testing and quality assurance for our Xfuze Hyper-Integration and Advanced Analytics Data Platforms as part of a cross-functional squad, including our data lakehouses, pipelines, APIs, and supporting front end.
You’ll work closely with other Software Engineers in Test, Software Engineers and business stakeholders to deliver real-time, event-driven data solutions and the supporting test frameworks/tooling.
You will be working with the very latest technologies in an exciting and fast-paced environment. Our data platform Xfuze is one of the best in the industry, leveraging best-of-breed technologies and handling business-critical operations for our customers.

Key Responsibilities
- Contribute to implementing best practices, automation frameworks, tooling, and processes to continuously improve the company’s QA maturity.
- Work within a cross-functional squad to incrementally deliver new features using agile methodologies.
- Create and execute test plans using a range of manual and automated testing techniques, including performance testing and testing data through pipelines.
- Work with the Product Owner and engineers to define acceptance criteria and refine functional, as well as non-functional requirements.
- Identify, define, and capture testing requirements for the stories and epics within your team’s backlog.
- Set up, seed, and manage test data.
- Clearly and regularly report progress and quality metrics, along with any delays or quality issues.
- Champion quality within the organisation and promote it as being a responsibility of the whole team, not just QA Engineers.
- During UAT you may have daily contact with our external clients so you will need to be able to understand their requirements and business processes to help them with their testing.
- Be willing to understand the Client’s 3rd party systems and where appropriate work alongside their testers for SIT.
- Enable the company to scale by improving our onboarding, training, and SDLC processes.

Your Knowledge & Experience
- 2+ years experience in QA.
- Broad knowledge of different testing techniques, such as API, front-end, regression, performance, and e2e testing.
- Comfortable writing test plans and maintaining test suites.
- Proficiency in Go, JS, Python, or similar for writing automated tests.
- Previous experience with Playwright.
- Experience testing data-centric solutions and working with multiple types of data stores to query and create test data, such as document (MongoDB), data warehouses (BigQuery), cache (Redis), relational databases, and object stores such as s3.
- Cloud platforms, especially GCP services such as GCS, Cloud Functions, and Dataproc.
- Familiarity with containerization and IaC tools (e.g. Docker, Kubernetes, Terraform).
- Worked within an agile environment (Scrum, Kanban, etc).
- Previous experience in the retail domain is highly desirable.
