The Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency (DVLA), in partnership with Inspire People, is seeking Software Development Engineers in Test (SDET) with strong automation testing capability, experience using modern programming languages, and practical Continuous Integration expertise. Based in Swansea, this permanent opportunity offers hybrid working (minimum 60% office attendance) and a salary of £39,163, including a £3,500 Recruitment & Retention Allowance and a Civil Service Pension with 28.97% employer contribution.

As a Software Development Engineer in Test, you'll help ensure quality is engineered into services from the very beginning. Working within agile delivery teams, you'll build and maintain automation frameworks that enable rapid, safe and reliable delivery at scale.
As a Software Development Engineer in Test, you will:
- Design, develop and execute automated test frameworks.
- Work as a key member of multidisciplinary agile delivery teams.
- Build automated testing alongside product development.
- Champion quality engineering, testability and automation-first approaches.
Essential skills for the Software Development Engineer in Test include:
- Experience using modern programming languages.
- Demonstrable experience automating testing across multiple test types.
- Practical experience of Continuous Integration (CI).
- Experience improving quality through automation and tooling.
