RetailEye Japan Division develops AI-powered smart shelf monitoring systems that integrate CCTV and point-of-sale technologies to transform retail inventory management. Role Description
This part-time Software Engineer role at RetailEye Japan Division is a hybrid position based in the London Area, United Kingdom, with flexibility for some work from home. The engineer will design, develop, and maintain software components that power our AI-driven smart shelf monitoring and inventory management systems. Day-to-day responsibilities include:

The role also involves collaborating with cross-functional teams to refine requirements, writing clean and testable code, and troubleshooting issues in production and test environments. The engineer will participate in code reviews, documentation, and continuous improvement of development practices.
Qualifications
- Strong foundation in Computer Science, including data structures, algorithms, and software engineering principles.
- Hands-on experience in Software Development and Programming, preferably in languages commonly used for back-end and AI systems (e.g., Python, Java, C++).
- Proficiency in Back-End Web Development, including APIs, microservices, and integration with databases and external systems.
- Solid understanding of Object-Oriented Programming (OOP) and ability to design maintainable, modular codebases.
- Experience with AI, computer vision, or machine learning integration in production systems is a plus.
- Familiarity with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP) and containerization technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes) is beneficial.
- Ability to work effectively in a hybrid environment, communicate clearly with distributed teams, and manage time across part-time hours.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
