Aspect Capital is an award-winning systematic hedge fund based in London. We manage over $8 billion of client assets, with technology playing a critical role in the success of our business.
We are looking for an experienced Software Engineer to join our Software Development team. This is an opportunity to work within a well-established team where your primary responsibilities will be to utilise technology to solve business problems. We work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment where the goal is to help deliver Aspect’s ambitious business plans.
Essential skills:
- 4-6 years of experience as a software engineer in a professional environment, taking requirements from concept to production use
- Strong development skills: Java experience is a must as well as competence in or willingness to learn Python.
- The ability to work collaboratively and communicate clearly and concisely with both technical and non-technical audiences.

- Financial experience and domain knowledge
- Python or MATLAB
- Cloud and container technologies such AWS, Docker, and Kubernetes
Responsibilities:
- Develop features on a range of systems written in Java, Python, and MATLAB, integrating with our proprietary trading systems and strategic SaaS providers, utilising industry best practice in SDLC (e.g., TDD, CI/CD, monitoring)
- Learn and understand key features of the expanding range of financial markets Aspect trades and the business processes that are required to support them.
- Manage technical projects whilst working closely with our internal business users to break down high-level requirements into feasible technology solutions and identifying opportunities for unlocking business value.
- Keep up to date with what is going on in the wider tech community - you will be encouraged to attend events such as conferences and meet-ups.
