About The Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Data Platform Engineer to join our User Trail team. In this role, you will be instrumental in shaping the technical direction of our analytics and observability platform, which captures how users interact with our products through events like page views, clicks, and other interactions. Your expertise will help expand the platform’s capabilities, enabling broader self-service access, enhancing data exploration tools, and supporting AI-powered solutions. You will work closely with cross-functional teams, including support, trading, business, and product teams, to ensure the platform scales effectively as more teams depend on our data. Your work will directly impact how the company leverages data to make informed decisions, improve products, and serve clients better. This role offers an exciting opportunity to influence technical strategies and develop innovative solutions in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.

Qualifications

  • 11+ years of professional software development or engineering experience.
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Deep expertise in backend services and data-intensive systems, such as event pipelines, data warehouses, lakehouses, or SDK development.
  • Proven track record of solving complex, ambiguous technical problems end-to-end.
  • Strong understanding of technical tradeoffs and ability to communicate ROI-driven decisions.
  • Experience leading or influencing technical direction across multiple platform components.
  • Ability to mentor and guide other engineers, fostering growth and technical excellence.
  • Comfort with learning new technologies quickly and applying them to solve complex problems.
  • Excellent collaboration and communication skills, with a focus on cross-team partnerships.

Responsibilities

  • Define and implement the technical vision for unlocking and scaling data access across the company, including self-service tools and AI-powered platforms.
  • Address complex technical challenges that span multiple systems, making informed tradeoffs to balance access, investment, and performance.
  • Anticipate future scaling needs and proactively plan for platform growth and robustness.
  • Identify opportunities to improve team workflows, tooling, and quality practices to enhance overall efficiency and output.
  • Influence product and platform development by providing ROI-focused technical guidance and strategic input.
  • Develop deep expertise across various platform components and serve as a resource for other engineers and teams.
  • Collaborate closely with data consumers and platform builders to shape feature development and data exposure strategies.
  • Promote a culture of diversity, inclusion, and continuous learning within the engineering team.
