Job Description

We're looking for a Software Engineer to join our Decisioning Software team.

You'll help develop and enhance Experian's proprietary decisioning software, supporting products that enable organisations around the world to make smarter, faster decisions. Working within a collaborative Agile team, you'll contribute to the development of high-quality, scalable solutions while continually improving your technical skills and engineering expertise.

This role is ideal for an engineer who enjoys solving complex technical challenges, working closely with teammates, and building software that delivers real business value at scale.

This is a Hybrid, Nottingham based role (40% in the office) reporting to the Engineering Lead.


What you'll do:

  • Design, develop and maintain software primarily using Java.
  • Build new features and enhance existing capabilities within Experian's decisioning platforms.
  • Work closely with Product Owners, Engineers, Architects and other stakeholders to deliver high-quality solutions.
  • Contribute to the full software development lifecycle, from design through to deployment and support.
  • Write clean, maintainable and well-tested code.
  • Participate in code reviews and technical discussions.
  • Investigate and resolve production issues when required.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives across engineering practices, tooling and processes.

Qualifications

  • Experience programming with Java
  • Understanding of object-oriented design principles and software engineering best practices.
  • Experience working with source control systems such as Git.
  • Experience working within Agile development teams.
  • Understanding of automated testing and quality engineering practices.

Desirable

  • Experience developing APIs and backend services.
  • Knowledge of cloud technologies and modern application architectures.
  • Familiarity with CI/CD tooling and DevOps practices.
  • Experience working with relational databases.
  • Experience working with enterprise-scale applications.
