Job title: Senior C++ Developer

Client: Ultra performant Fintech

Salary: up to £130k + Bonus

Location: London

About the Company

Our client is an elite fintech company operating at the cutting edge of high-frequency trading (HFT) and electronic markets. Based in London, they are building world-class trading infrastructure where performance, reliability, and engineering excellence are critical.

Their engineering culture is built around solving some of the hardest problems in software engineering — from memory optimisation and lock-free programming to distributed architectures and high-performance data processing. Engineers here work on systems where every CPU cycle matters and where technical decisions directly impact the performance of global trading operations.

The Role

They are looking for a talented C++ Software Engineer with a passion for performance engineering, low-level systems, and building highly optimised software.

  • You will join a world-class engineering team responsible for designing and developing the next generation of ultra-fast time series database technology.
  • This is a greenfield opportunity to work on the core engine powering the storage, retrieval, and analysis of vast quantities of financial market data.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.

You will work on complex technical challenges including:

  • High-throughput data ingestion

  • Memory-efficient storage engines

  • Concurrency models

  • Cache optimisation

  • Low-latency query execution

  • All in a modern Linux environment, using the latest the language has to offer (C++20/23).

The team follows modern C++ development practices, with a strong focus on clean architecture, rigorous testing, performance profiling, and continuous optimisation. You will collaborate with genuinely brilliant, down-to-earth engineers from the HFT and systems programming world, gaining exposure to some of the most advanced technology environments in finance — in a team that's as good to work with as it is technically sharp.

You Will Have

  • 5+ years of experience with modern C++ (C++ 17 or later)
  • Experience building high-performance, real-time, or low-latency distributed systems
  • Background in FX, crypto, or electronic trading environments (exchange, market-making, HFT, or quant/prop trading highly valued)
  • Strong understanding of concurrency, network programming, and high-level systems design
  • Some leadership experience — mentoring engineers or leading technical initiatives
  • A curious, performance-obsessed, and tech-driven personality
