Software Engineer - Market Data - £85,000
You are joining a world-leading financial market data business, working at the heart of the systems that power some of the biggest names in finance.
Your clients include tier 1 banks, hedge funds, and commodity shops so the data you help build and maintain matters, and the scale of it is real.
You sit within the market data team, working closely with Pricing Quants and Risk Strats day to day. Your focus is on building and improving the market data and analytics systems that underpin the business. This is not a role where you are handed a blank canvas every time. You will get into existing codebases, understand them, refactor them, and make them faster, more reliable, and more scalable.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

The tech is C# today, with a migration towards Python underway. On the data side, you are working with SQL Server and moving towards PostgreSQL. The challenge here is scale and performance, processing large volumes of data and making systems that do not break under pressure.
