Software Engineer (Mid Level) - Leeds / Hybrid | Permanent

The Role

A technology-led consultancy are looking for a Mid-Senior Software Engineer to work across a variety of client projects, building robust software and solving complex technical problems.

They combine established software engineering with an increasingly AI-native approach, using AI throughout the development lifecycle and building practical, production-ready AI solutions where they add genuine business value.

The role is suited to a well-rounded engineer who enjoys working across the stack, learning new technologies and working closely with clients. Projects will range from traditional full-stack engineering through to solutions incorporating AI.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Designing and building scalable software across client projects
  • Working across front end, back end, APIs and data
  • Writing clean, maintainable and well-tested code
  • Working with cloud platforms, CI/CD and modern development practices
  • Integrating AI capabilities such as LLM APIs, RAG and agent-based solutions
  • Using AI coding tools throughout the development lifecycle
  • Working directly with clients and within enterprise environments
  • Contributing to technical design, testing and delivery
  • Evaluating new technologies and identifying where they can add value

What They're Looking For

  • 2+ years commercial experience as a Software Engineer / Full Stack Engineer
  • Strong software engineering fundamentals, including testing and CI/CD
  • Experience with modern back end technologies such as Java, Python, Node.js, C# or Go
  • Experience with front end technologies such as React, Vue or Flutter
  • Experience with cloud platforms and modern development practices
  • An interest in AI and experience using AI coding tools
  • Exposure to LLMs, RAG or agent frameworks would be beneficial
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills
  • Comfortable working with clients, complexity and ambiguity
  • A willingness to learn and adapt across different technologies
