Software Systems Engineer | Bridgend, South Wales

Pearson Carter are currently working with an innovative and successful privately owned SME who design and manufacture hi-tech capital equipment for worldwide export. They are looking to expand their team with a strong Software Systems Engineer.

The successful candidate will take responsibility for the design, development and maintenance of software and control systems across existing and future projects.

Responsibilities:

  • Analyse software requirements and work closely with product development and production teams
  • Design and develop software to meet specified system requirements
  • Prepare test plans, procedures and technical documentation
  • Support system installations at customer sites around the world
  • Investigate and resolve system issues across design, coding, testing and acceptance
  • Implement bug fixes, system modifications and software enhancements
  • Provide technical training and support to internal personnel
  • Support the Software Systems Manager with core systems and legacy software

Experience:

  • 5+ years of software development experience
  • Strong experience with VB.NET within an engineering environment
  • HND / Degree level qualification, preferably in Computer Science or Mathematics
  • Experience or an interest in machine/motion control software and hardware interaction
  • Experience with laser control or PLCs would be desirable but is not essential
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to work with internal and external stakeholders

Location:

This client is based in Bridgend, South Wales and they’re looking for someone to work in office 5x per week. The role may also offer international travel to support field installations across the world!
