We are Hiring Software Engineer In London, UK

London 3 days/week WFO.

6 Months contract

Hybrid model

Role summary:

Responsible for the design, implementation, and operation of software systems that are correct, maintainable, and resilient under production load and ongoing change.

Scope of the role

  • Designs and delivers features end to end, from technical approach and API contract through to production monitoring.
  • Translates ambiguous or incomplete requirements into concrete architecture, identifying high risk areas early in the lifecycle.
  • Produces well-tested, documented, and maintainable code.
  • Raises engineering standards through code review, technical documentation, and mentorship.
  • Retains operational ownership post-release, including debugging, instrumentation, and performance and security improvements.

  • Expert proficiency in Swift, with deep familiarity across Apple platform frameworks (SwiftUI, UIKit/AppKit, Swift Concurrency, Combine) and the Xcode toolchain, including build settings, instrumentation, and profiling. Working knowledge of Objective-C for interoperability with existing codebases.
  • Proficiency in Python and shell scripting (Bash/zsh) for build automation, internal tooling, CI/CD pipelines, and workflow development.
  • Practical experience designing and consuming APIs, including versioning, authentication, error handling, and backward compatibility across shipped client versions.
  • Solid grounding in data structures, algorithms, relational and NoSQL data modeling, caching, and distributed system trade-offs.
  • Experience with service-side and cloud infrastructure, containerisation, and automated build, test, and release pipelines.
  • Working familiarity with AI/ML integration where applicable, on-device inference (Core ML, Apple Intelligence frameworks), model APIs, or LLM-backed features, including evaluation of latency, privacy, and cost implications.
  • Strong testing discipline across unit, integration, and UI automation (XCTest, Swift Testing), with an emphasis on maintainable, reliable test coverage.
  • Sound judgment in balancing engineering rigour against delivery velocity, and in operating within established review, security, and release processes.
  • 5+ years of professional software development experience
