About The Role
We are seeking a highly skilled Staff Software Engineer to take ownership of our network automation systems. This role is pivotal in designing, developing, and maintaining the software that underpins one of the largest GPU clouds in the world. Your primary focus will be on building robust, scalable, and reliable platforms and services that automate network provisioning, configuration, monitoring, and healing processes. You will set the technical direction for these systems, ensuring they meet high standards of quality, efficiency, and operability. Collaborating closely with cross-functional teams such as Network Engineering, Observability, Fleet Engineering, and HPC, you will help integrate automation seamlessly into our wider infrastructure. The role involves leading complex projects, mentoring engineers, and contributing to a culture of continuous improvement and innovation. Once ramped up, participation in the on-call rotation will be expected to support system reliability and incident response.

Qualifications
- 8+ years of professional software engineering experience, preferably in building and operating large-scale infrastructure, platform, or backend systems.
- Proficiency in Python and Go programming languages.
- Solid understanding of CI/CD processes, including testing, code review, and maintaining continuous integration and deployment pipelines.
- Experience managing runtime health for enterprise-level services and applications.
- Hands-on experience with process automation and toil reduction, including workflow automation and device provisioning at scale.
- Strong planning and project management skills, capable of driving multi-month initiatives while managing multiple concurrent efforts.
- Technical expertise in core networking fundamentals such as IP addressing, subnetting, routing, switching, NTP, and DNS.
- Comfort working with Linux and Kubernetes environments.
- Experience with infrastructure automation tools like Ansible and Jinja, as well as observability tools such as Prometheus and Grafana.
- Excellent written communication skills and experience mentoring engineers and collaborating across teams.
- Degree in Computer Science or a related field is preferred but not mandatory.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain platforms and services that automate network configuration, provisioning, and management.
- Lead technical discussions through RFCs, design reviews, and architecture decisions to ensure scalable and reliable solutions.
- Write high-quality, well-tested, and well-documented software in Python and Go, adhering to best practices and standards.
- Enhance system reliability and operability by defining service-level indicators and objectives, and reducing manual effort through automation.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure automation aligns with overall system architecture and operational goals.
- Participate in the on-call rotation to support system stability and incident resolution.
- Mentor and review code and design work of other engineers, fostering a culture of continuous learning and technical excellence.
- Contribute to organizational culture by promoting collaboration, innovation, and a positive work environment.
