Open Source Software Engineers, Systems Developers & Competitive Programmers. Remote AI Project

We are seeking experienced Software Engineers, Open Source Developers, Systems Engineers, Backend Engineers, and Competitive Programmers to contribute to advanced AI training through real-world software engineering work.

You will develop features, debug complex issues, refactor existing codebases, optimize performance, review code quality, and produce clear technical documentation across established open source repositories.

No prior AI experience is required. Strong software engineering judgment and hands-on coding experience are what matter most.

What You’ll Do

  • Build and refine features in existing open source codebases
  • Implement production-quality solutions using Python, C++, Java, Rust, TypeScript, Go, C#, or related languages
  • Diagnose and resolve complex bugs
  • Refactor legacy or difficult-to-maintain code
  • Improve software performance, scalability, readability, and maintainability
  • Analyze unfamiliar repositories and understand architecture quickly
  • Review code for correctness, edge cases, consistency, and engineering quality
  • Validate implementation outputs against defined technical requirements
  • Apply algorithms and data structures to complex engineering problems
  • Develop efficient solutions when multiple implementation approaches are possible
  • Participate in code review and peer feedback
  • Maintain project documentation
  • Write clear technical explanations describing solution design, tradeoffs, and implementation decisions
  • Collaborate asynchronously with other engineers in a remote environment

Requirements

  • Strong professional software engineering experience
  • Expert-level proficiency in at least two of Python, C++, Java, Rust, TypeScript, Go, C#, or closely related languages
  • Significant experience working with existing or unfamiliar codebases
  • Strong debugging and problem-solving ability
  • Experience developing features and fixing complex bugs
  • Experience refactoring and maintaining production software
  • Strong understanding of algorithms, data structures, and computational complexity
  • Ability to evaluate multiple technical approaches and select an appropriate solution
  • Strong code-review skills
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Strong written and verbal communication
  • Ability to produce concise technical documentation
  • Comfortable working independently in a remote collaborative environment

Preferred Background

  • Significant open source contribution history
  • Experience maintaining or contributing to widely used repositories
  • Strong competitive programming background
  • Experience working on large or mature codebases
  • Experience with systems programming or performance-sensitive software
  • Experience profiling and optimizing production systems
  • Experience designing APIs, libraries, frameworks, or developer tools
  • Experience reviewing pull requests from other engineers
