This opportunity is for experienced Software Engineers with expertise in software development, debugging, code optimization, GitHub collaboration, and distributed systems to contribute to advanced AI research and evaluation projects. You'll apply your software engineering expertise to evaluate AI-generated code, build reinforcement learning environments, and help improve the reasoning, coding, and problem-solving capabilities of next-generation AI systems.
No prior AI experience is required. Your software engineering expertise and real-world development experience are the primary qualifications for success in this role. Professionals with strong GitHub contributions, open-source experience, backend development, or systems programming are especially encouraged to apply.
Responsibilities
- Design and develop reinforcement learning environments that evaluate AI models on complex software engineering tasks.
- Review and assess AI-generated code for correctness, maintainability, efficiency, and software engineering best practices.
- Apply expertise in debugging, feature development, code refactoring, performance optimization, and software architecture.
- Build reproducible coding environments using Model Context Protocol (MCP) tools and real-world software repositories.
- Develop and validate deterministic test cases, verification systems, and reference solutions for AI evaluation.
- Contribute to GitHub-based projects, code reviews, and collaborative software development workflows.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
