Dex

The role

Quantitative research drives this firm. They apply machine learning and big data to complex financial datasets, operating at the forefront of live markets. Your work here directly underpins that research, building the engineering platform that makes it all possible.

This role sits at the heart of that platform. You'll build the observability infrastructure, deployment tooling, and fault-tolerant operations for a large, federated engineering organisation. This is a hands-on engineering seat with real breadth, not just reactive support. You will actively engineer systems to make incidents less likely, and less severe.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

The work

  • Design and implement observability infrastructure (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana, OpenTelemetry) for complex, real-time trading systems.
  • Engineer deployment tooling and CI/CD pipelines to ensure safe, reliable releases across a federated engineering environment.
  • Build and maintain fault-tolerant, high-availability platforms that directly support live financial research.
  • Proactively identify and mitigate operational risks, moving beyond reactive incident response to systemic prevention.
  • Collaborate across multiple engineering teams and research functions to define runtime boundaries and strengthen platform safety.

What You Bring

  • Deep experience with distributed and real-time systems engineering.
  • Production-level expertise in Kubernetes, containerisation, and orchestration at scale.
  • Proven track record building and operating observability platforms (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana, OpenTelemetry) and designing SLOs.
  • Strong debugging instincts; you can quickly diagnose and resolve complex issues in unfamiliar systems under pressure.
  • Experience with CI/CD and deployment automation, specifically building release tooling for high-stakes environments.
