About The Role
We are seeking a highly skilled Lead Software Engineer to join a dynamic and innovative Software & Platform Engineering team based in Manchester. This role offers the opportunity to work on enterprise-scale digital products tailored for major private and public sector clients. As a key member of the team, you will be responsible for leading technical initiatives, mentoring engineers, and ensuring the delivery of high-quality software solutions. The position requires a hands-on approach, combining technical expertise with leadership capabilities to drive project success and foster a collaborative engineering environment.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
- Proven experience (typically 5+ years) in software development, with a strong background in designing and implementing scalable applications.
- Extensive knowledge of modern programming languages such as Java, C#, Python, or JavaScript.
- Experience with cloud platforms like AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.
- Strong understanding of microservices architecture, API development, and DevOps practices.
- Previous leadership experience managing engineering teams or technical projects.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work effectively under pressure.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to convey complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.

Responsibilities
- Lead the design, development, and deployment of enterprise-grade digital products, ensuring they meet quality, security, and performance standards.
- Provide technical leadership and mentorship to engineering team members, fostering a culture of continuous learning and innovation.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including product managers, designers, and QA to deliver seamless solutions.
- Define best practices, coding standards, and architecture guidelines to maintain high-quality codebases.
- Participate in code reviews, troubleshooting, and performance tuning to optimize software systems.
- Stay current with emerging technologies and industry trends to recommend innovative solutions.
- Contribute to project planning, estimation, and risk assessment activities.
- Ensure adherence to project deadlines and deliverables, managing multiple priorities effectively.
