Senior Product Engineer – PHP

£80,000 | Remote UK | PHP | SaaS | AI

Are you a Senior PHP Engineer who wants more than simply picking up tickets and delivering predefined solutions?

We’re working with an established and growing technology business looking for two Senior Product Engineers to join its engineering function. This is an opportunity to remain hands-on while having genuine ownership over what gets built, why it gets built and how the technical solution is designed.

You’ll initially join a small team responsible for:

  • Modernising and expanding a suite of existing applications
  • Building new internal products and integrations
  • Solving engineering challenges around scale, APIs and significant data volumes

Longer term, you’ll have the opportunity to move onto an exciting greenfield AI-powered product, designed to automate high-volume support queries and transform how users access information and support.

What you'll be doing

  • Designing, developing and improving scalable PHP applications
  • Modernising existing products and building new functionality
  • Developing integrations and APIs
  • Working with applications handling significant traffic and data volumes
  • Collaborating closely with Product Managers to understand problems and shape solutions
  • Taking technical ownership from discovery through to delivery
  • Mentoring and coaching other engineers
  • Contributing to engineering standards and technical decision-making
  • Using AI development tools to improve engineering workflows
  • Longer term, contributing to the development of a greenfield AI product

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Experience with Symfony or Laravel, AWS/GCP/Azure, microservices, Terraform, Datadog or Prometheus would be beneficial but isn't essential.

Why consider it?

You'll be joining a highly autonomous engineering environment where you'll have the opportunity to influence products rather than simply deliver tickets.

Alongside working on applications operating at genuine scale, you'll have a route into an exciting greenfield AI project and the opportunity to help shape the product at an early stage.
