Software Engineer – Bristol Area – £50,000

Location: Bristol Area

Salary: Up to £50,000

Job Type: Permanent


I’m currently recruiting for a Software Engineer to join a rapidly growing technology and R&D organisation in the Bristol area. This is an excellent opportunity to work on embedded software, software-defined radio, DSP and communications technologies within a highly technical engineering environment.

You’ll be involved in developing innovative software solutions for complex client requirements, working across research, prototyping, implementation, and testing.

The Role

As a Software Engineer, you’ll contribute to a variety of advanced R&D programmes, with a particular focus on radio frequency, communications, and embedded technologies.

  • Developing embedded software for microcontrollers and System-on-Chip (SoC) devices
  • Developing and configuring Software Defined Radio (SDR) systems
  • Working with Digital Signal Processing (DSP) techniques and applications
  • Developing software using C, C++, Python, and other relevant languages
  • Supporting sensor and signal-processing applications
  • Rapidly developing prototypes and pre-production systems
  • Producing technical requirements and design documentation
  • Planning and supporting technical trials
  • Working directly with customers to understand requirements and develop suitable technical solutions

The Ideal Software Engineer

You’ll ideally have 3+ years’ commercial software or embedded software engineering experience and experience across some of the following:

  • Embedded C / C++
  • Python
  • Embedded Linux
  • Microcontrollers and SoC platforms
  • Software Defined Radio (SDR)
  • Digital Signal Processing (DSP)
  • RF or communications systems
  • Sensors and signal processing

FPGA / VHDL exposure would be advantageous

  • Prototype development, integration, and testing

This role would suit a Software Engineer, Embedded Software Engineer, DSP Engineer, or SDR Engineer who enjoys technically challenging R&D work and wants exposure to cutting-edge communications and embedded technologies.
