About Ask Arlo

Ask Arlo is building the AI-native platform that takes admin and information off veterinary teams, so their time goes where it matters: the animal in front of them. For more information please visit: askarlo.co.uk

The Role

We are looking for an engineer to take ownership of our product. You will use AI development tools to build and iterate quickly, and bring the development knowledge and design judgement to make sure what we ship is well built and easy to use.

You will work closely with the founders, our technical advisers and the vets who use the product.

What You Will Do

  • Own the product day to day, from planning through to release
  • Build and improve features quickly with AI development tools, directing and reviewing the output rather than accepting it as given
  • Shape the interface and user experience so the product is simple to use in a busy practice
  • Maintain and extend the existing codebase
  • Work with practicing vets to understand their workflow and reflect it in the product
  • Plan and carry out integration testing, including with practice management systems and other third-party services

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

What We Are Looking For

  • A solid understanding of software development: you can read, debug and reason about code, not only generate it
  • Hands-on experience building with AI coding tools, and a clear sense of when to rely on them and when not to
  • A good eye for usability, user experience and design
  • The ability to iterate quickly and take ownership without close supervision
  • Working knowledge of TypeScript and React (Next.js an advantage)
  • Sound knowledge of web application and data security: secure coding, authentication, keeping each customer's data separate, API key management, and control over where data is sent and stored
  • Right to work in the UK
