Software Engineer/C Developer – PGD

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Software Engineer/C Developer – PGD based in United Kingdom.

This is a fully remote EMEA opportunity focused on developing and evolving a high-availability distributed PostgreSQL solution.

You will work on a multi-master database technology designed for geographically distributed, enterprise-scale workloads.

The role spans architecture, software development, testing, documentation, performance optimization, and production support.

You will contribute to technically complex challenges involving replication, consistency, fault tolerance, and distributed systems.

The position offers the opportunity to work on a large, long-lived codebase alongside an internationally distributed engineering team.

You will collaborate closely with other engineers through code reviews, design discussions, debugging, and continuous improvement.

This role is well suited to an experienced C developer with strong PostgreSQL knowledge and a passion for reliable distributed database systems.

Accountabilities

  • Design, develop, test, and document new capabilities for a multi-master distributed PostgreSQL product.
  • Contribute to architecture and technical design decisions for distributed database functionality.
  • Maintain, enhance, and optimize existing capabilities to improve performance, reliability, usability, and scalability.
  • Analyze business and technical requirements and translate them into clearly defined, executable engineering tasks.
  • Investigate complex software and database issues and provide high-quality production support to enterprise customers.
  • Diagnose performance and reliability problems using systematic debugging and analysis techniques.
  • Participate in code reviews and provide constructive feedback to maintain strong engineering standards.
  • Collaborate with engineers and stakeholders across a globally distributed development organization.
  • Work effectively with multi-version and multi-branch codebases, including active backporting and release workflows.
  • Contribute to build, testing, CI/CD, and software delivery processes.
  • Help maintain high standards for technical documentation, testing, maintainability, and production readiness.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
