🚀 Technical Engineering Manager | Scale-Up AI Fintech
📍 Hybrid – 1 day/week in London
💰 Up to £125,000 + equity
🌍 Series B, AI Fintech
We’re partnering with a fast-growing Series B fintech using cutting-edge AI. Following rapid organic growth, they are scaling their engineering organisation and seeking an experienced Technical Engineering Manager to establish structure, elevate standards, and develop their front-end capabilities without slowing down pace.
This role sits above existing Front-End Team Leads, reporting directly into the VP of Engineering. You’ll be instrumental in shaping how the function scales, bringing a blend of technical leadership and team development to build a high-performing front-end engineering layer.
What you'll be doing as the Technical Engineering Manager:
- People Leadership: Develop a team of Front-End Tech Leads (who each manage their own direct reports).
- Technical Direction: Set architectural vision, design standards, and best practices across a React and TypeScript stack.
- Hands-on Engagement: Stay connected to the craft through code reviews, technical coaching, and solution design (~30% hands-on expectation).
- Delivery & Operations: Drive engineering excellence, quality, and cadence using operational metrics to spot bottlenecks early.
- AI Integration: Champion the adoption of modern AI development tools (like Claude, Cursor, and Bugbot) across the front-end workflow.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
