Senior Engineering Manager – Distributed Systems / Architecture - Remote-first | Up to £180,000 + 15% bonus + VSOPS

We’re partnered with a highly profitable business operating at the forefront of AI, with around 400 employees and a valuation of close to $10bn. Established for over 5 years, the company has built a highly technical engineering organisation focused on solving complex problems around scale, performance and distributed systems. They’ve also recently been named one of the top 50 companies on the pre-IPO watchlist, making this a particularly interesting time to join.

The Role

This is a Senior Engineering Manager position for someone who wants to combine strong people leadership with genuine technical ownership. You’ll initially lead a team of circa 8 engineers, with the team expected to grow as the business continues to scale.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

The wider engineering organisation works with high-throughput, distributed systems. Golang is the preferred language, although experience with Java or Python will also be considered.
