THE ROLE
The Manager of Software Engineering assumes a pivotal leadership role, providing guidance, support and motivation to the team, ensuring projects are completed on time and within scope, and contributing to strategic and technical decisions within the scope of their team.
WHAT YOU WILL DO
- Create and foster positive culture, instilling a sense of unity and collaboration in a team of up to ten professionals
- Hiring, termination, minor salary negotiations
- Manage performance, provide feedback, and ensure professional growth across teams
- Contribute to technical decision making in a complex software environment
- Collaborate with product management to prioritize features within the scope of their team’s project
- Understand the business context at a team level and align their team’s engineering efforts accordingly
- Identify and mitigate risks related to their team’s software development projects

WHAT IT TAKES

Experience in leading software teams as a manager or a team lead
-
Understanding of agile processes and development practices

Basic understanding of common SDLC management software (Azure DevOps, Jira, etc.)

Basic understanding of dependency management, risk management, people management, and capacity management

Strong technical background in software engineering, with proficiency in multiple programming languages and technologies

Excellent communication skills

Basic knowledge of security protocols

Ability to drive innovation and implement process improvement at scale

Experience working with distributed teams and managing offshore team members is a plus
