Software Engineering Manager – C#
Are you passionate about advancing the next generation of semiconductors?
We are looking for an experienced Software Engineering Manager (C#) to lead our high-performing engineering team, driving our cutting-edge metrology product development. In this pivotal role, you’ll combine technical leadership with people management, shaping the software strategy and delivering impact across a growing cross-functional team.
About the Role
A typical day may involve:
- Leading sprint planning, estimation, and tracking for the C# team, ensuring realistic, visible, and customer-aligned delivery.
- Coaching and developing team members through 1:1s, appraisals, and career growth in an inclusive environment.
- Collaborating with architects, LabVIEW, data analysis, and systems teams to manage dependencies and unblock delivery.
- Engaging with stakeholders to communicate status clearly and support customer-facing readiness decisions.
- Reviewing code, reinforcing design patterns, MVVM architecture, and C# .NET best practices as the team scales.
- Contributing hands-on technically (when capacity allows) and influencing architectural decisions.
Responsibilities
- Own and deliver phased software plans, clarifying milestones, assumptions, dependencies, and confidence levels.
- Drive Agile/Lean delivery in a multi-disciplinary sprint-based environment.
- Translate complex technical concepts for both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Work with requirement traceability, design reviews, Jira, and equivalent tools from concept to delivery.
Requirements
Essential
- Minimum 5 years of hands-on C# software development experience in the industry.
- People management or team leadership expertise, including appraisals, career development, and recruitment.
- Strong C# .NET architecture knowledge, including:
- Design patterns
- MVVM architecture
- Threading models
- UI development with WPF or equivalent technologies.
- Experience in owning and communicating phased delivery plans.
- Experience with Agile/Lean methodologies in a sprint-based, cross-functional environment.
- Ability to clearly communicate technical concepts to diverse stakeholders.
- Proficiency with requirement traceability, design reviews, and Jira.

Nice to Have
- Experience managing software delivery in cross-functional environments with hardware dependencies.
- LabVIEW integration or data streaming interfaces between LabVIEW and C# teams.
- Knowledge of low-level communication protocols (e.g., TCP sockets).
- Additional programming languages, such as Python.
- Systems engineering understanding to engage with architects on interface definitions and safety requirements.
- Experience working with external partners in software delivery.
- Familiarity with programme-level planning tools, project management, or Jira administration.
- Background in regulated/precision instrumentation environments.

- Salary: £70,000 – £90,000 (dependent on experience).
- 25 days annual leave, plus death in service and private healthcare benefits.
