Manager, Software Engineering

numi has partnered with a fast-scaling AI and mobility technology pioneer to recruit a Manager, Software Engineering to lead the development of their flagship global e-commerce and pre-book mobility platform.

About the Role

In this role, you will drive the vision and technical execution for an enterprise platform powering customer-facing e-commerce experiences across major global airport hubs. You will lead a team of senior engineers, partnering closely with Product Management, Data Science, and Design to scale high-availability, distributed microservices handling high-volume traffic.

What You'll Do

  • Partner with Product, Data, and Design to execute a multi-year platform strategy.
  • Manage, mentor, and coach an engineering team, fostering a high-trust, collaborative culture.
  • Drive recruitment efforts to build out a strong team of senior individual contributors.
  • Establish operational processes to guarantee high availability, security, and reliability across distributed systems.
  • Leverage test automation, TDD/BDD, and modern CI/CD pipelines to accelerate data-informed experimentation.
  • Collaborate directly with global enterprise partners on API integrations and workflow applications.
  • Cultivate an engineering environment where production issues are viewed as constructive architectural learning opportunities.

What We're Looking For

  • 5+ years in software engineering management alongside 10+ years of hands-on software development experience.
  • Proven track record scaling and leading teams (10+ engineers) in customer-centric B2C or B2B environments.
  • Technical depth in designing and delivering large-scale distributed systems, microservices, and event-driven architectures.
  • Deep experience with database technologies (MySQL, PostgreSQL) and Agile engineering processes.
  • Experience leveraging AI tooling (such as GitHub Copilot) to enhance developer productivity.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to articulate complex architecture to executives and cross-functional teams.
  • BS/MS in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience.
  • Bonus: Experience with e-commerce platforms, containerization, Infrastructure as Code (IaC), or fast-paced SaaS environments.
