I’m working with a well-funded technology business looking for an Engineering Manager to lead around 20 engineers across 3 software engineering squads.
The Environment
The business is going through a significant period of technical change, modernising parts of its existing estate and building new services as customer volumes and product complexity continue to increase.

The Role
- Lead and develop around 20 engineers across 3 squads
- Manage and mentor Engineering Leads and Senior Engineers
- Improve engineering standards, processes, and ways of working
- Remain close enough to the technology to challenge technical and architectural decisions
- Help shape how the engineering function develops as the business scales
- Play an active role in interviewing and recruiting new engineers
- Work closely with Product and Architecture across ongoing software initiatives

What We’re Looking For:
This isn’t a delivery-only management role. They’re looking for someone with a strong software engineering background who can challenge technical decisions, coach experienced engineers, and continue raising the technical standard across the function.
Recent experience leading TypeScript / Node.js engineering teams is important.
