Software Engineering Manager (Hybrid – 2 days per week in Leeds | £70,000–£80,000)

Overview

You will work closely with the Head of Technology and Data to build out the Software Engineering team as they look to bring the function in house. The role will be a mix of hands on technical leadership, delivery and strategy.

This will include you hiring into the team and building it as the company scale up. You will be joining an ambitious team and this would be an excellent position for someone hungry to climb the career ladder.

Required Skills

  • Strong technical capability with: .NET, Azure (cloud development and deployment), SQL databases, Messaging / integration patterns, Caching solutions
  • Proven experience leading and coaching/developing Software Engineers (team build-out, coaching, performance, delivery ownership)
  • Strong hands-on background across the software development lifecycle (SDLC) from design through deployment and support
  • Solid understanding and application of Agile methodologies and engineering best practices
  • Experience implementing design patterns and scalable software architecture approaches
  • Experience planning and delivering CI/CD strategies and improving deployment pipelines
  • Ability to identify and implement automated testing opportunities
  • Strong communication, stakeholder management, and problem-solving skills
  • Valid driving licence

  • Experience defining and tracking engineering KPIs and building service levels (SLAs) around quality/availability/performance
  • Strong experience conducting structured code reviews and raising quality standards across a team
  • Exposure to modern secure development and cloud governance practices (security-by-design)
