Engineering Team Lead
Up to £60,000 | Fully Remote (UK)
Job Summary
We're hiring an Engineering Team Lead to join a new squad working on a major project in the energy sector. This role is around 80% hands-on development, with the remaining time spent coordinating with the Product Owner and client on delivery, priorities, and technical direction. You'll provide technical leadership and mentoring within the team, without formal line management responsibility.
Genuine, direct experience working for a supplier or vendor in the energy sector is essential, understanding how the market works, how suppliers operate, and the regulatory and pricing landscape they navigate. This isn't about ticking a box, it's about being able to walk into the work already understanding the terminology, the pressures, and what "good" looks like for an energy business.

Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain complex software systems and applications
- Lead the architecture and technical direction of the project, ensuring best practice in design and implementation
- Coach and mentor fellow engineers, sharing knowledge and leading by example
- Guide work distribution and contribute to project governance, without formal line management
- Collaborate closely with the Product Owner and client to translate business needs into deliverable technical work
- Investigate and resolve complex technical problems
- Contribute to the ongoing improvement of development processes and tooling

Requirements
- Genuine, hands-on experience working for a supplier or vendor in the energy sector, not just adjacent exposure
- Strong, current C#/.NET experience, with Blazor or a similar modern front end framework
- Strong SQL Server experience
- Proven ability to mentor and provide technical leadership to other developers
- Comfortable working in an Agile environment
- Confident communicator, able to explain technical detail to both technical and non-technical audiences
- Fully remote, based anywhere in the UK, with occasional travel to client sites. Immediate start preferred.
