Are you an experienced software engineering technical team lead looking for a new challenge? If so, we have a great opportunity for you…
Salary: Circa £55,000 to £67,000 depending on experience
Dynamic (hybrid) working: Typically 4 days per week on-site, due to workload classification
Security Clearance: British Citizen or a Dual UK national with British citizenship.
Restrictions and/or limitations relating to nationality and/or rights to work may apply. As a minimum and after offer stage, all successful candidates will need to undergo HMG Basic Personnel Security Standard checks (BPSS), which are managed by the MBDA Personnel Security Team.

The opportunity:
We're a driven team with a passion for software and its successful deployment in battlespace Command and Control (C2) weapon systems. We work on technology that is at the forefront of European missile system design, delivering safe, secure, and reliable products to our customers.
We are looking for a capable, adaptable and inquisitive Software Engineering Technical Lead who can lead a small support team (five) to develop and maintain our in-service missile-system middleware solutions.
Debugging and engineering investigation is a big part of the job, as the software is complex and we require someone with an inquisitive nature to be able to investigate issues and discuss solutions with our customers.
Our products require Linux Operating System (OS) configuration, support and security solution maintenance, so experience of Linux is would be beneficial for this position.
Working across multiple applications on both land and maritime projects in the systems software department, this role allows for involvement in many of the most advanced missile systems in the world, across multiple warfare domains.
What we're looking for from you:
- Experience with C or C++ is essential, along with a solid background in software engineering.
- A passion for software engineering, with the ability to innovate and think critically to solve complex software problems with a willingness to develop software skillsets either through on the job, or formal training.
- Comfortable working with a team in a collaborative environment, communicating and contributing to resolve emerging issues.
- Team leading experience would be beneficial, as this role involves a blend of both engineering and leading engineers to deliver to projects.
- Working closely with our Software Project Leader to build alignment across our programmes and products.
- Experience in the development of software for Commercial off the Shelf (COTS) hardware and be comfortable working with target system hardware.
- Ada, and/or JavaScript would be beneficial, but not essential
