Job Description

As a Senior Project Engineer, you will play a key role in coordinating engineering activities, managing project deliverables, and ensuring programme milestones are achieved. Working closely with multidisciplinary teams, you will be responsible for driving project progress, supporting testing and validation activities, managing documentation, and engaging with stakeholders across all levels of the business.

This role offers an excellent opportunity for an engineer who combines strong technical awareness with effective project management and communication skills.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the delivery of engineering projects, ensuring activities are completed in line with programme schedules and quality requirements.
  • Coordinate engineering, testing, and project teams to ensure successful delivery of project milestones.
  • Facilitate technical and project meetings, ensuring actions are clearly defined and tracked to completion.
  • Monitor project progress, identify risks and issues, and support the development of mitigation plans.
  • Manage and maintain project documentation, ensuring records are up to date and delivered within agreed timescales.
  • Coordinate testing and validation activities, ensuring requirements, resources, and schedules are aligned.
  • Support engineering change and modification processes, ensuring approvals and reviews are completed efficiently.
  • Act as a key point of contact between engineering teams, project management, and external stakeholders.
  • Prepare project reports, KPI updates, and presentation materials for management reviews.
  • Drive collaboration across teams to promote high-quality, right-first-time delivery.

Qualifications

Required Skills

  • Experience working within engineering, transportation, rail, infrastructure, or regulated environments.
  • Proven ability to coordinate multiple workstreams within complex projects.
  • Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.
  • Experience managing project documentation, reporting, and governance activities.
  • Ability to identify and manage project risks, issues, and dependencies.
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise competing demands.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and PowerPoint.

Required Qualifications

  • A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering, or equivalent military experience.

Desirable Skills

  • Experience within the rail or transportation sector.
  • Understanding of systems engineering, testing, validation, or engineering assurance processes.
  • Knowledge of engineering change control and configuration management.
  • Experience working with distributed or international project teams.
