Position: Software Quality Assurance Engineer

Contract: Full Time, Contract (Outside IR35) – 6 months initially
Location: United Kingdom (Remote – Travel to Gateshead once every 6 weeks)
Rate: £60 - £70 per hour (Outside IR 35)
Industry: Electrification (energy storage, power electronics and advanced electric motors)

PRS Engineering has engaged with a key client and leading global manufacturer of advanced Electric Propulsion & Electrification systems, focused on delivering innovative products within energy storage, power electronics and advanced electric motors. With a clear mission to deliver emissions-free mobility and industrial machines across global markets.

Due to project demand and increase in production, we are hiring for a Software Quality Assurance Engineer to get involved in the High Voltage Battery project.

The role can be remote but will require visits on site at Gateshead at least once every six (6) weeks and reports into the Software Engineering Lead for Battery Systems.

Job Role

In this role the Software Quality Assurance Engineer will be responsible for the following:

  • Develop a Software Quality Assurance (SQA) Test Suite covering the following:
    • Static Analysis
    • Dynamic Analysis
    • Fuzz Testing
    • SBOM creation and Vulnerability analysis
  • Coordinate with potential and active suppliers of the software tools used in the SQA Test Suite
  • Demonstrating the functionality of the SQA Test Suite on Internal Projects
  • Developing the infrastructure required to automate the operation of the SQA Test Suite
  • Provide corresponding documentation on the design, creation, operation and potential future options for the SQA Test Suite
  • Work with other design engineers and the wider cross functional department to deliver programs
  • Work to company and industry quality standards

Experience and Skills

We’re looking for candidates with the following experience and skills:

  • Experience using Mathworks PolySpace tools with strong preference for:
    • PolySpace Bug Finder
    • PolySpace Test
  • Experience in Embedded C development
  • Experience setting up and developing Continuous Integration systems
  • Working familiarity of Functional Safety standards (e.g. IEC61508, ISO26262, EN50128)
  • Ability to understand technical requirements and their influence on design
  • Experience in working with suppliers
  • Ability to collaboratively work with other departments and present to internal stakeholders

Desirable experience:

  • Experience in the Rail Industry
  • Experience with Docker/Containers
  • Working familiarity of Cyber Security standards (e.g. IEC62443, ISO21434, CLC/TS 50701)

Qualifications

A degree or equivalent in the following discipline is required:

  • BEng or MEng in a relevant Software Engineering or Computer Science degree
  • Must have a minimum of 4 years’ experience in engineering roles
