QA Lead
📍 Macclesfield (Hybrid)
💰 £55,000
I'm currently partnering with a growing technology business in Cheshire that is looking to hire a QA Lead to take ownership of software quality across a portfolio of digital products.
This is a hands-on leadership role, ideal for an experienced Senior QA Engineer or existing QA Lead who enjoys combining technical testing expertise with team mentoring, process improvement and stakeholder collaboration.
You'll lead a small QA & Business Analysis function, helping to shape testing strategy, improve software quality and ensure business requirements are translated into reliable, high-performing products.
What You'll Be Doing
- Leading and mentoring QA and Business Analysis team members
- Defining and implementing test strategies for new products and major feature releases
- Remaining hands-on with both manual and automated testing
- Designing and building Playwright automation frameworks
- Driving API and performance testing initiatives
- Performing root cause analysis on defects and working closely with developers on solutions
- Reviewing requirements and acceptance criteria to ensure quality is built in from the outset
- Supporting CI/CD practices and continuous improvement initiatives
- Acting as the go-to person for QA best practice across the business

What We're Looking For
- Strong experience in software testing and quality assurance
- Hands-on automation experience using Playwright
- Experience testing APIs and integrations
- Knowledge of performance testing tools such as jMeter
- Strong understanding of test strategy and quality processes
- Experience mentoring, coaching or leading QA professionals
- Excellent communication skills and stakeholder management experience
- Comfortable working closely with both technical and non-technical teams
