Software Security Engineer
Salary - £130-150k + Strong Bonuses (£200-250k total comp)
Location – London (in office minimum 4 days per week)
Newly created role with an elite Algorithmic Trading firm, looking for a Software Security Engineer to help build out and fine-tune their Infrastructure capability, establishing the technical security controls to ensure they remain cyber secure but maintain extremely high availability and ultra-low latency.
Experience working within major Trading firms in on-prem infrastructure environments where availability and latency is paramount is massively beneficial but not essential; more important the mindset and understanding of how to balance the need for maximum availability with maximum security through minimizing MTTD and MTTR.
You'll sit alongside software engineers, infrastructure teams and the wider technology function, helping embed security throughout the development lifecycle rather than bolting it on afterwards. They are looking for someone who can understand how vendor tooling works and then customize/build a tailored version to their specific environment. A software engineering background or at least a very strong proficiency in coding will therefore be crucial.

Key Responsibilities
- Design, build and fine-tune detection and defence capabilities that protect the firm from internal and external threats, without compromising system availability or latency
- Partner closely with software engineering and infrastructure teams to embed security throughout the SDLC
- Investigate and respond to security events, working towards clear MTTD and MTTR targets
- Evaluate, customize and build security tooling tailored to a large-scale, high-performance environment

Key Requirements
- 3+ years’ experience working in an advanced Security Engineering capacity; developing and deploying large scale security solutions.
- Deep knowledge of both Linux and Unix operating systems.
- Strong computer science fundamentals and the ability to write high-quality, production-grade code (Golang advantageous but not essential)
- Understanding of authentication and cryptographic systems.
- Ability to collaborate with wider technology and engineering teams to ensure security is embedded throughout SDLC.
